August does not get the attention he deserves. His younger brother Emil has a condition, and their parents devote most of their time to him. Suddenly, Emil becomes much worse and needs to go to the hospital. Meanwhile, August is taken care of by neighbors Helge and Maren. There, he experiences the recognition he always wanted. However, when he discovers that his immoral actions are ignored, he finds himself stuck in an identity crisis.
